Kids won't be afraid of the dark with this heavy-duty flashlight by their beds. It looks just like the one you carry in your car, but it's made for kids. For one thing, it shines in white, green, or red light with the turn of a switch, and it has an automatic shutoff. If the bar underneath the handle isn't pressed down, the flashlight will shut off in 30 seconds. It also has a manual on/off switch, so kids can feel like they're in total control. Mom or Dad will need to help install the batteries with a screwdriver, but after that kids will be off to explore the darkest corners of the closets or on a jungle safari through the living room. --Lynne Sampson

This is a great flashlight for the little ones! I got tired of never having a flashlight with working batteries and got my son this one for his 1st birthday and could not have made us both happier! He has had it for almost a year now and we haven't replaced the batteries, yet, which is really surprising because it is used every night at bedtime. He loves to shine it around his room to peek at the 'sleeping' stuffed animals before he drifts off to sleep. I would highly recommend this for any age child who is able to grasp the handle to keep the light on - since there aren't any loose parts to come off and cause a choking hazard I believe it is safe for the 'under 3 years' group. The battery compartment has a cover that attaches with a screw - making it difficult even for Mom & Dad to get it off :o)

My kids both have one of these. I bought my oldest hers about 7 years ago, and it still works! It's pretty sturdy. It's great on batteries, too - I think we've replace the batteries two or three times in 7 years, that's it. My kids love these. I love that I don't have to get on to them about turning them off - the lights turn themselves off.

Both of my children love this toy. It has survived a lot of abuse (including falling out of a moving car), and it doesn''t chew up the batteries either, so it's economical to run. The "auto-off" feature is nice - you move a switch forward on the handle to "turn it on", but the light won't shine unless you're holding it by the handle (and if you put it down, it dims and turns itself off in 30 seconds or so). There's a little 'wheel' that allows the child to make the light turn either green or red, in addition to white light. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 starsDurable, fun and "findable"
This flashlight is worth the investment. Our children are playing with the same Playskool flashlights their college-age cousins had when they were little.

These flashlights are hard to come by! I wanted a flashlight with an automatic shut-off to save batteries.

I got this for my 3 year old daughter thinking it would be the perfect toy: a flashlight that turns itself off! And yes it does do that.

We bought this flashlight for our 3-yr-old grandson, after noticing that during visits he loved to play with our 'grown-up' one.
